President's Report
I cannot believe how
fast summer flew by! Here we are back for Fall 2007 at MSU and things are
better than ever. Formal recruitment went great and the school year is off to
an amazing start. A big thank you to all of those alum who gave their time,
talents and gifts to help make recruitment run so smoothly. So far this
semester Beta Nu has already been awarded Highest Sorority GPA for the 4th
semester as well as the President's Cup for academics. We are looking forward
to an exciting fall and hope to see all of you soon!!

Adviser's Report
Hello All!! Hope
everyone had a fabulous summer. Things are off to a great start at Beta Nu
this semester. We have a wonderful group of 27 new ladybugs!! I wanted to
thank everyone who was able to come down for recruitment and all of you that
donated time, food and money. Everything is always appreciated and the entire
week went incredibly smoothly. A special thanks to Jill Speicher who came from
St. Louis and volunteered her
entire week to recruitment. Without support like that and the amazing
alumni circle we are embracing, Alpha Sig
at Murray State would not be what it is! These girls have a great semester
planned full of retreats, workshops, Homecoming, Dodgeball, and more! I hope
to see everyone at Homecoming, it will be a GREAT time!!
Love always,
Jennifer King
VP of PR and Recruitment
If you have not heard yet, recruitment was a complete success, and ASA was the talk of Formal recruitment...in a VERY positive way! As the VP of PR and Recruitment I figured it would have been a very stressful week, but to my findings, it was smooth sailing! I had so much support from the actives and alum, especially my recruitment advisor, Jill Speicher. I knew i could not go through recruitment alone and having that support really opened my eyes to how great this sorority can be! With that said, I would like to announce that we have 27 new girls! This year we had to have a COB right after formal recruitment. But we tackled that, and came out with some great assets to the new pledge class! Recruitment was a blast, and we came out on top with amazing new girls!

VP of Membership Education
After welcoming in so
many wonderful new pearls on Bid Day, Each of our actives have been working to
teach these ladies what ASA is all about and what it means to wear our
letters. They are all very eager to hear about everything ASA has to offer and
to get involved in any way possible. Our new members have begun meeting weekly
to go through the Advantage program. They will soon be meeting with all the
other new members from the other Greek organizations on campus to learn about
the Greek system. They are also beginning to work on their pledge class
volunteer project, which will be the Heart Walk that takes place here in
Murray each year. These girls are already very busy...but they are loving
every minute of it!
Matching for the Big/Lil process has already started, and both girls who are
needing a Big and wanting a Lil have been attending several get-to-know-you
events to help them as they search for their new ASA family member. Girls
will be making their selections at the New Member Retreat on September 7th and
then receiving them the 9th. This means that by the time all of you are
reading this, you should have a new addition to your ASA family!
My assistant New Member Chair, Ellen Isaacson, is working with many of you
now on our 'Adopt a New Girl' program. We both apologize for the delay in
getting this going, but we were unsure of how many alum we would be needing to
adopt girls until we finished recruiting. She is having a great deal of
success with it all thus far, but she could still use some more volunteers to
adopt one of our lovely new girls. If you are interested in this and have not
yet contacted Ellen or myself, you can do so by e-mailing me at
donna_kathleen@hotmail.com
or Ellen at
ellen.isaacson@murraystate.edu.
Thanks again to all those of you who are participating in this. The new girls
are so lucky to have you!

VP of Alumnae and Heritage
Hello!
I hope you are all getting excited and are making plans to join us this year for Murray State 's Homecoming! Homecoming is the weekend of October 13 and is only a little over a month away. I have been very busy planning and organizing some wonderful events for all of you alumnae to enjoy that weekend along with events for the chapter to participate in during the week. I will be sending out a more detailed email about events and times for the weekend in the next week or so. I am working on one project for the weekend that I need you to help me with. I am looking for pictures of alum from when you were in sorority. These can be digital pictures or regular pictures. If any of you have pictures that you could share with me, please mail them to Emily Westart 66 Stanford Dr., Murray, KY 42071 or email at emilywestart@gmail.com. Include your name and pledge class year with the picture. If it is an original copy that you would like returned, just include with it the address to which I could mail it back. Thank you all so much for your continued support of Beta Nu and I look forward to seeing you at Homecoming!

Treasurer Report
Ladies,
I just wanted to give
you all an update on the financial world of Alpha Sigma Alpha. There have been
a lot of changes made by nationals in the last few months to move to an online
banking institution called Billhighway. This company is how we are now
handling all of our finances. We are still working out some of the kinks and
it has been a little hectic for the last few months, but we are getting there
and in the long run I think it will be a way of helping ASA to move with the
times. If your curious you can check out the website and read about it,
www.billhighway.com.
While we're talking about finances I just wanted to take the time to mention
that District Days is in Texas
this year and at least
five of our girls must attend. The sorority has a few fund raisers to help the
girls, but they will still probably be footing a lot of the bill. If any of
you would like to donate money to the District Days fund, or even just donate
money to the chapter in general, you can make your checks to Alpha Sigma
Alpha, and just write in the memo if you want to specify it for DD. They
can be mailed to our P.O. Box 892, Murray, KY 42071
We really appreciate our alum support, without you all there wouldn't have
been a chapter for us to join. Thank you again!
